PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY
A phrase from one of our favorite nursery school songs "I like myself and I like you too!" expresses one of our most important goals - to develop each child's self-esteem. In an atmosphere of acceptance and caring, the child's sense of self is nurtured and with it, the strength to grow toward independence and self-reliance.
FREE PLAY
A major part of our program is free play, which allows each child to pursue his/her own interests while encouraging communication, exploration and decision- making. We offer a diversity of creative art and music experiences, dramatic play, storytelling, field trips and daily outdoor play. Nature and science themes are explored as part of our carefully planned curriculum.
NURTURING ENVIRONMENT
Children are encouraged to explore a wide variety of learning experiences in a warm, relaxed and cheerful setting. Each child has the opportunity to choose from independent and group activities that build skills and stimulate the child's natural curiosity and creativity.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
The warm rapport between teachers and parents is evident in the friendly greetings exchanged in the hallway each day. Families are always welcome and often contribute to the program with special talents, treats for special occasions and rides for field trips. Other opportunities for involvement include orientation meetings, parent/teacher conferences, occasional parent programs, our annual Fathers' Breakfast for the four-year-olds and their dads, the three-year-olds' Family Art Show and annual events such as Family Pizza Night and the Ice Cream Social. Parents serve on our board of directors, which supports the Nursery School programs and operations throughout the year.

Our bright, cheerful classrooms are housed in the lower level of the church building on Main Street. The large rooms are carefully organized to allow an easy and natural flow of activities from one interest center to another. There is lots of "elbow room" for painting, water play, block building, dressing up, pretend play and just being with friends.
- Large and airy rooms Numerous "centers" for different activities Extensive library of children's books Well-equipped playground for physical activity
- Our outdoor playground has a large climbing structure and equipment, sandbox and designated area for bikes and riding toys. We enjoy all seasons in our safely enclosed play area.
We offer a variety of classes for children beginning at age 3. Each child must celebrate his/her birthday by October 1 of the school year to qualify for either the three or four-year-old programs. Numerous class options are offered so that parents can more easily choose the program that best meets the needs of their child. Three-year-olds may attend two or three sessions a week. Four-year-olds may attend either three or four sessions a week with a further option of one extended lunch session. More specific information regarding days, times and fees is available from the registrar or the nursery school office.
CLASS SIZE
Teacher/child ratios are in accordance with state regulations. Three-year-old classes are limited to sixteen children with two teachers and four-year-old classes have a maximum of eighteen children with two teachers.
EXPERIENCED STAFF
At the core of our program is a staff dedicated to preserving and enhancing the dignity of each child. Their warmth and genuine respect for children is always evident. Each teacher brings to the program the enthusiasm, creativity, continuing curiosity and love for learning that are so important in a dynamic nursery school environment. Miss Amy, Storyteller, will be visiting all our Three Year Old Classes this month as she travels with her magic box of props. The children enjoy being a part of the story as they act out the tale in simple costumes.
The Fours will have a second music workshop this month. This program will be “Love to Hear Percussion” presented by Joe Devico.
